Set of twelve silver fish ornaments
India, 19th century
A set of twelve repoussé silver ornaments in the shape of a fish, each depicted swimming amongst flowers and with finely chased and engraved detail. Each ornament has a silver strap at the back for fastening.
This unusual set of silver ornaments was probably made to decorate the leather harness of a horse or elephant, used on ceremonial occasions. |
