Ishikawa Shoun was born in 1895 in Nagano (Tochigi prefecture). His original given name was Teruaki. Ishikawa Shoun studied bamboo basket craft under Iizuka Rokansai (1890-1958). He exhibited at the Nitten Hoshukuten exhibition, in 1940. His works can be found at the Tochigi Prefecture Museum of Art, the Lloyd Cotsen Collection, and the Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University, USA.
