Bronze ribbed vase
Japan, Showa period, 1926 – 1989
A bronze vase, the cylindrical sides tapered in and down to the foot and slightly recessed base. The interior is fitted with a metal plate about halfway down, which has two semi-circular openings on the sides. The top of the vase has a light patina, which goes down to a chocolate-brown colour.
This vase has a metal divider about halfway down, making it easier to use for ikebana arrangements. The semi-circular openings make it easy to grip the divider plate and remove it, when required.
