An octagonal basket, the sides rising up from a flat, recessed base and each pierced with a pattern of diagonals. The grain of the wood is smoothly patinated. The basket is contained within the original wood tomobako, which is inscribed Nami-sukashi hakkaku, araraki mori ki, XX zo kore (pierced waves pattern, in an octagonal shape, made of Japanese Yew (araragi), a wood plate).
