Lacquered wood panel ‘Melody of Circles and Rays’ by Kaoru

A rectangular wood panel, lacquered in colours on a black ground with an abstract pattern of circles and lines. The panel is signed with the artist’s signature in red on the bottom left-hand corner. The back has a paper label pasted to it, reading En to hikari no senritsu he (Melody of Circles and Rays).

 

The artist Seki Kaoru lived in Nagano prefecture and was active from circa 1978 to 1986. A number of this artist’s works can be found at the Chino City Museum of Art, Nagano prefecture.
